Course objectives

To support policymakers on establishing procurement practices and mechanisms that ensure compliance with accessibility standards for all ICT goods and services in coordination with international best practices in the field.

  • To understand the accessibility features of mainstream ICTs
  • To understand international policies, laws and standards related to public procurement and the rights of persons with disabilities to access and use ICTs
  • To identify all stages of the procurement process during which accessibility may be addressed
  •  To use international standards to clearly specify accessibility as a measurable quality in the public procurement of ICT
  • To incorporate accessibility requirements during the drafting of procurement documentation 6- To understand and use different types of evidence of conformity assessments and attestation most suited for the public procurement of accessible ICTs
  • To evaluate accessibility within suppliers’ responses to Request for Tenders
