Mada Announced as the Official QITCOM Accessibility Partner

The nonprofit organization worked closely with the QITCOM team to create an accessible experience for all visitors to the event​

 

DOHA, QATAR, 6 MARCH 2017: Qatar Assistive Technology Center (Mada) is the official QITCOM 2017 Accessibility Partner, Qatar's biggest digital event, which is taking place from the 6th to the 8th of March at Qatar National Convention Centre, will benefit persons with disabilities (PWD) with accessibility features throughout the event. In addition, Mada will also present its Innovation Program that is aimed at developing an Assistive Technology Market in Qatar.

As a nonprofit organization, we are always looking for partners to join us in bringing awareness and support to persons with disabilities and helping them reach their maximum potential," said Maha al Mansouri, CEO of Mada. "QITCOM is a great event for us to demonstrate the importance of empowering persons with disabilities through the accessibility features we have put in place; we also hope to encourage entrepreneurs to create and develop Arabic based assistive technology solutions for persons with disabilities through our initiatives at QITCOM."

 

Mada has insured that majority of the exhibition area is accessible at QITCOM, moreover a special accessible registration desk will be available, sign language interpretation at the opening event, in addition to certifying QITCOM website for being accessible.

 

Mada will also be putting its Innovation Program into action at QITCOM, encouraging entrepreneurs in the region to create localized assistive technology solutions for persons with disabilities, Introduced through three award categories which include; Mada Award, Mada Direct Grant and Entrepreneur Grant. The innovation program will be part of CodeCamp competition which is taking place at QITCOM. Teams of computer programmers and software developers from high schools, universities and professional coders will compete to develop software solutions that will combat real life challenges including assistive technology for PWD.

 

Mada stand, and through its garden theme will focus this year on "Growing Arabic Assistive Technology" and "Nurturing Accessibility". Mada stand will also host an experiential session where students can experience the process of communicating together using only assistive technology as their voice. Mada hopes that this demonstration and experience will help raise awareness about disability and the importance of assistive technology.

 

Mada's strategic goals and operational focus revolve around three key areas: education, employment and community,  in addition to its mission to help persons with disabilities stay connected with the world through assistive technology.
